Porirua Gospel Chapel was one of the first churches built in the Cannon’s Creek suburb of Porirua. It was established 45 years ago, at the same time the government began developing state housing in the area.

Over the years the chapel has maintained a consistent Christian witness to the Cannons Creek community.  It has been instrumental in developing a multi-cultural learning environment where local community, in particular, youth, immigrants and refugees can feel at home. The church leaders have recognised for a number of years the important role technology plays in learning.

Mission Statement

 

The purpose of the church is to bring praise and glory to God: by seeking to extend the kingdom of God through prayer, worship, teaching, witness and service, and by encouraging every member to grow to full maturity in the body of Christ.

We believe that the distinctive calling of this church is to demonstrate the reconciliation that Jesus Christ brings to every area of life:-

  •  We recognise the Jesus calls us to do this within our community and country, and out in the uttermost parts of the world.
  •  We are committed to share and demonstrate the good news of the Gospel with its power to turn lives and society back to God.
  •   We want to be a fellowship where people from very different backgrounds will respect, love and care for each other.
  •   We want to show how the love of Christ breaks down barriers that divide people.
