Spinnaker elects new Committee

A new Committee for the 2011-12 Toastmasters year starting on 1 July was elected at the Club's May meeting. The committee has already begun planning for the new year with some key goals in mind, including building membership, improving club standards, and providing more educational resources for members.

In her outgoing President's Report, Shona Smith outlined the club's achievements for the current year, and thanked everyone for their efforts in running the club. Special mention was made of the club's 20th Anniversary held in December 2010, acknowledging the members who competed in the Area Contests, and the recently completed Speechcraft Course run by Coordinator Fiona Cashmore.

Spinnaker Speechcrafters Graduate

Five Speechcrafters graduated on Thursday 14 April, by completing their final speech and receiving their graduation certificates.

All the speeches were using the theme "Working with Words" and we heard some fine examples of wordsmith speaking, from a trip in the Amazon jungle, to the reasons for procrastination.

All the Speechcrafters then delivered short evaluations of each other's speeches, followed by a table topics session.

Speechcraft Coordinator Fiona Cashmore presented the five graduates - Allan, Nick, Jocelyn, Debbie and Susan, with their certificates. Alice, Scott and Andrew were absent at this meeting.
